Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of characters who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to head next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his own means, entering the secret base, striking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the team enter places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Planners parties.
Audiences can expect learning which characters will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
