The Animated Series' Showrunner Is Aware of Fans' Season 2 Bingo Cards — With Some Good News

The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform this week, and fan speculation has been intense.

The first season presents a diverse group of personalities living within the afterlife, sets them at odds with musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.

The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands as the main goal," the creator stated recently. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

The creator reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.

That could imply viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season moves, and how much of what they're waiting for happens this season.

"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."

She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.

"I've come across a couple people make a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."

Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
