Leeds United's a player shields the ball from Manchester United's Leny Yoro in the Premier League clash at their home ground. At a Glance Calvert-Lewin sees a first-half header ricochet off the post. Aaronson fires the home side ahead with a well-placed strike in the second period. Cunha levels only three minutes later. The Yorkshire side extend their longest top-flight undefeated streak since the turn of the century. Manchester United's disappointing run of form continued at Elland Road, but head coach the Portuguese tactician had Matheus Cunha to thank for his side not suffering even more disappointment against Leeds. The Everton loanee directed a first-period effort against the woodwork for the in-form hosts before Brenden Aaronson applied a cool finish with a driven, 62nd-minute shot. With the goal, Amorim was under intense scrutiny after his side had failed to beat struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford earlier in the week. Nevertheless, against a team who had less time to prepare, Cunha restored parity three minutes after the opener when he ran on to a pass from substitute the Dutchman and guided a shot underneath rushing Leeds goalkeeper Lucas Perri. It was only the South American's fourth Premier League goal since his high-profile summer move and came at a time when Amorim is without several key attacking players due to a mix of fitness issues and international duty. Not that Leeds to sympathise with that given their own tight schedule. The Swiss attacker forced a full length save out of visiting goalkeeper Senne Lammens with a spectacular overhead kick, and United heads were in hands when Benjamin Sesko, who is finding it hard to make an impact, turned his teammate's cut-back wide from close range. Cunha, who had a goal ruled out for offside much earlier in the contest, also fired against a post late on. The draw extends the home side's unbeaten run to seven matches, their longest such streak since over two decades ago, and takes them a significant margin clear of the relegation zone. For the Manchester United though, it was yet another chance to move into the Champions League places, albeit only for a matter of hours, squandered. Man Utd Analysis: Amorim's Side Struggle Again With the AFCON reaching its knockout phase, the United coach could be understood for hoping the participating nations make a swift exit. Existing injuries to skipper Bruno Fernandes and England international Mason Mount only heightened the impact the absence of other forwards is having on Amorim's squad. It's not that the missing pair are the solution to all of United's problems. After all, they were part of the side that experienced disappointing results earlier in the campaign. But without them, the boss has limited alternatives in attack. He evidently does not have full faith in youngster Shea Lacey or the much more experienced Zirkzee, even though the Dutch forward provided the through ball for the equaliser almost instantly after his introduction as a substitute. That leaves the Brazilian, who has now scored three goals in recent outings, and others operating out of their preferred positions, alongside Benjamin Sesko. On this showing, the expensive frontman looks similar to previous struggling signings, lacking in belief and conviction in front of goal. Sesko's failure to turn home Zirkzee's cross means it is now a long run without a goal for the young striker. Leeds Analysis: Another Step Towards Survival After thrilling victories in their previous home games, the arrival of their biggest rivals to Elland Road was a bit drab affair. True, there were moments of typical atmosphere, but the intimidating edge was not as pronounced as in other encounters. Leeds' fans were more preoccupied about their side's inability to get sustained possession in dangerous areas for any length of time. The striker's header that clipped the post was an rare moment of threat in a congested first half. It still felt as though the hosts were struggling when a defensive error opened the door for the opener. Ever so briefly, The home ecstatic fans thought they were about to secure a coveted win against their old foes. However, there is a much bigger picture for Daniel Farke and the club to deal with. When they suffered a difficult run of form earlier in the campaign, many thought about the manager's future. Instead, he is now overseeing clear progress. The task is not completed yet but step by step, the team are getting nearer to securing their survival. What Happens Next? The Yorkshire club have a Premier League trip to Newcastle in midweek, followed by the start of their FA Cup campaign next weekend. The Red Devils face a league trip to Burnley before also beginning their FA Cup journey with a home tie.
